That is interesting. How does electroreception in platypuses fit into this? (Is it plesiomorphic or did it arise de novo? Or a bit of both?)

It's probably de novo, but I don't know anything specific about platypus electroreception.


Are there other amniotes with electroreception?

Not that I know of. Of course, that may simply mean nobody has looked for it, but it's useless in terrestrial animals and should be expected to be lost.
