Even more JP III fun ...(SPOILERS)

Hi all, thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.

SPOILER SPACE

Well, the movie was fun if you completely suspend your disbelief -- which,
come to think of it, is required for most movies! =)

I love that 'raptors are more intelligent and sophisticated than dolphins,
whales, and chimpanzees. Take that, Jacques Cousteau! Take that, Jane
Goodall! =)

You have to love that Pteranodon is a viscious, man-eating killer -- what's
funnier is when you realize that Pteranodon was probably a fish-eater. Sort
of like having the attack of the killer pelicans. =)

The satilite phone in the spinosaur was interesting. =)

The only thing that ever saddens me with these movies is how cool, bizarre,
and fascinating dinosaurs are without making them bigger, neater, and
nastier. Spinosaurus (Suchomimus) is fascinating on its own without making
it godzilla. 'Raptors are fascinating even though they were probably not
the smartest guys on the block. Sauropods ... well, don't get me started on
the sauropods! =) The amazing part about dinosaurs is not that they were
all killer monsters but that they were real animals that actually existed on
planet earth ... And, that our ancestors co-existed with these amazing
animals but survived the extinction that wiped them out.

For as much criticism as this list has seen regarding When Dinosaurs Roamed
America, at least in that show the dinosaurs were not all portrayed as
savage monsters out on the prowl killing everything in site.

I guess the thing to remember is, JP III is entertainment only. Sort of
like when you call the psychic hotline and the Amazing Whatshername tells
you that you will be rich, have happiness, and find fullfilment in your life
-- it's not real, it's just entertainment. And although we all know that
these movies are fantasy, 10 to 15 years from now I guarantee future
paleontologists will speak of how these movies inspired them to become ...
well ... paleontologists. Just look at what Indiana Jones must have done
for archaeology. =)

Nuff said. Ah, well, back to packing ...
