Actually I think he wants to get everyone in the theater so we'll be 
away from our computers which will allegedly go insane in the 
year 2000 and drag down western civilization.

Speaking of JP3, a conflicting rumor puts Crichton back at the 
typewriter for book #3.  The dinosaurs are apparently overruning the 
world, sez the not-really-a-doctor, and humanity lives in walled 
cities to avoid rampaging rexes and raptors.  I guess the year 2000 
is going to take out firearms as well.

Believe what you want.  A lot of these rumors swirled around after JP 
as well.
