I had some very well-made HO-scale handpainted plastic dinosaurs circa
1960--Apatosaurus, Triceratops, Stegosaurus--and so far as I'm aware,
there were no major design flaws. They'd rate with the best dinosaur toys
of today, of which my son has about 60. You have to scout at nature stores
and zoo shops, not toy stores, but the good stuff is readily available,
