Actually, there almost certainly is NOT and SV-POW! post on this, though I can certainly see why people would expect there to be. At least, if there is such a post, then (A) I don't remember writing or reading it, and (B) it's not filed under "ribs" at

In his monograph of Brachiosaurus, Riggs (1904:239) notes that "One of the more slender ribs from the mid-thoracic region measures fully nine feet (2.745 m) in length", which is almost exactly the same length as the ?Apatosaurus rib that Cary saw at the MOR. I have a vague feeling of reading about an Asian sauropod with a longer rib, but I can't remember the name of that animal.
