SANTUCCI, R. M. & BERTINI, R.J. (2006): A large
sauropod titanosaur from Peirópolis, Bauru Group,
Brazil. - N. Jb. Geol. Paläont. Mh.,
2006:344-360;Stuttgart.
 
Abstract: Titanosaurs are the most common
vertebrates found in the Bauru Group deposits.
However, their record is rather fragmentary generally
not allowing a detailed comparative study. In this
contribution new titanosaur remains from Peirópolis
(Serra da Galga Member, Marilia Formation) are
described. An isolated but complete large dorsal
vertebra with an interesting combination of
characteristics (e. g. mid-posterior dorsal vertebrae
with diapopostzygapophyseal laminae; well developed
prespinallamina with two accessory laminae;
centrodiapophyseal laminae not widened ventrally, and
a large area for muscular attachment on the dorsal
aspect of the diapophyses) is compared with other
titanosaurs. Comments regarding left-right asymmetry
in this material are also made.
