Hagryphus

Note to those on the list interested in trivia related to the release on Hagryphus. The reconstruction accompanying many of the news stories is mine, but is actually a depiction of what "Nomingia" may have looked like and was originally included in an article in Nature. Scott and Lindsay requested I make the artwork available for this press release, as the skeletal elements ( manus, etc. . .) show in general "oviraptoroid" characteristics, and as such the existing illustration fit the bill ( since there was no "front half" to Nomingia, the rendering was speculative to begin with, based on an overall oviraptorid "look" the focus was intended to be directed to the pygostyle and potential for a tail fan feather array). Although I don't know what Scott is saying in context to the illustration, the press are assuming the image is meant to be of Hagryphus, not an animal resembling Hagryphus. Since we don't actually know what either Nomingia or Hagryphus look like ( missing skeletal elements x artistic delusion = ), this is the "mootest" of points to be made, however for those of you who may recognize this image from before, I thought I would take a moment to clear up the mystery of how it has magically reappeared, bearing a different name / alter ego . . . holy misrepresentidentification Batman!!
