April issue of PalArch online

Dear colleagues,

April 1st, the new issue of www.PalArch.nl has been put online. Thanks
for your co-operation!

www.PalArch.nl exists two years! In 2004, the Dutch Minister of
Education, Cultures and Science Mrs M.J.A. van der Hoeven, launched
the very first issue (see our website for a full report). Now we enter
our third year and can look back on a promising start. So far (thus
excluding the publications of this April issue) we have published 23
papers and 49 book reviews on vertebrate palaeontology, 12 papers and
40 book reviews on archaeology of Egypt/Egyptology and one papers and
30 book reviews on archaeology of northwest Europe (including more
general books on archaeological theories). Furthermore, eight
Newsletters have been edited and the Foundation presented itself on
numerous scientific meetings, distributing information about PalArch.
So we can conclude that it has been very successful indeed. However,
the success is not spread evenly across the various scientific fields
we work in. Vertebrate palaeontology is doing rather well, but
archaeology of Egypt/Egyptology remarkably less. Unfortunately,
electronic publishing is still rather unpopular, apparently especially
among Egyptologists, despite the many advantages.
Needless to say, we will increase our efforts to stimulate people to
publish with us, among others by distributing information packages,
presenting posters and the like. Please, note our Call for papers: All
contributions that fall within the wider thematic framework of the
journals are welcome. This includes papers for our journal on
archaeology of Egypt/Egyptology, the journal on vertebrate
palaeontology and the journal on the archaeology of northwest Europe
and related disciplines such as archaeobotany, archaeozoology,
museology, systematics, the history of science etc. Contributions can
take the form of, for instance, excavation reports, material studies,
databases etc. PalArch is especially, but not exclusively, suitable
for submission that involves large amounts of data.

Furthermore, our renewed Newsletter with all details on the
publications, news on the activities on the PalArch Foundation and
various other items is online as well, go to
