the Matter of KONG

I've heard a lot of folks - here, mostly - complain about the effects in 
_King Kong_.  Complaints about how it doesn't measure up to the original, 
and things such as that.
(my sister said Jackson's _Lord of the Rings_ was also paler than the books, 
yet she didn't go out and try burning theaters^)

If I remember correctly, Peter Jackson didn't say he was going to make a 
_clone_ of the original film.  He said he was making an _homage_ to the 
original.

In truth, raise your hand if -- had Jackson had used all the things at his 
disposal, and made a perfect clone of the 1930s original -- you would have 
screamed bloody murder.
