protarchaeopteryx help
Sorry for this little rant but here it goes.
I was just going along today looking for some detailed
images of the feathered dinosaurs when I noticed this
image of Protarchaeopteryx. It didn?t look quite
right to me. I didn?t see any sign of tail plumes,
not did the tail look quite right in length and
structure. The entire specimen looked somewhat
plastic and fake. The site claimed it to be the real
specimen of the creature that was on display in the
?Chinese Dinosaurs? exhibit that made its way through
Australia during 2002 and 2003. They were arguing
(due to the nature of the site) that it showed no sign
of feathering and showed the news of such covering to
be fake. This somewhat puzzled me and I looked
further into the specimen. The fossil needs to be
presented accurately in any argument. Also, the poor
little beast is in bad enough shape as it is, further
skewing of the specimen only make it that much worse.
Now, (despite the source of the site and imagining
that this was the actual specimen), Where are the
feathers? Is the tail incorrect or is it just my
misinterpretation? Also, the cracks near the tail and
manus don?t seem to match up quite right.
Furthermore, I thought the actually specimen was in
London at this time due to other reports that I read.
Does anyone know if the actual specimen was in
Australia?
The image appears here if anyone is interested.

I know this site is of little actual importance in the
scheme of things, but it is one of the first results
to appear in internet searches of this subject. People
need to be made aware of the fakes and frauds that
could be floating around out there.
Thanks
Daniel S.
