Invite to a devonian seascape
Hi,
I hope this list is the right place to post this. Firstly, I should say
that I'm no kind of expert in ancient life of any kind - my expertese is in
3D animation and design.
the reason I'm writing is that I've developed something that might be of
interest here - it's a 3D environment based on a Devonian underwater scene.
Basically, you can explore the sea-bed, following various fish, and other
creatures around, and getting an idea of how they might have looked (URL at
the end of this message).
It's a real-time simulation which started off as my attempt to learn the
software I've used, but which has turned into something which I think might
eventually be of interest as an exhibit or some other kind of aid.
Obviously since I've no experience in this field, and have only the research
I've done online to guide my designs and animations, there will be a lot
that needs to be modified to create a working project. However, I'd
appreciate the feedback of this group about whether it's a worthwhile
project to pursue, and if so what could be done with it, both to improve its
quality and realism, and to get it to an interested audience.
Obviously as it started life as a learning project for me, I'm only going to
be able to develop it if there's a realistic chance that it's going to be
worthwhile, but I'd like to invite the group to take a look:

you'll need a relatively fast machine, and a browser with Shockwave 8
installed to make it work - and it's quite a large file (1mb) so it will
take a while to load and initialise (it's eventually intended as an exhibit
on a dedicated machine rather than an online website, so users won't in the
end have these problems).
Hope you like it.
