Biology as a freshman seems a bit backwards. No chemistry or other
science before that. I feel that the non science students need to be
taught a robust general science course. And since evolution is one of the
top five most important science areas it should take up quite a bit of
this course. Not as general science is taught in most schools now, but as
a more thorough and challanging subject.
Biology for the science majors now needs to be taught from the point
of view of evolution, always going back to why is this or that attribute
needed for survival. We did some sort of evolution as I did a paper on
man's ancesters. This is more than 40 years ago. UGH!
