They shouldn't. There's no need to. The fossils will always find suitable 
stem groups in which to be classified.

Gack. The whole point of what I wrote was to keep things simple, at least 
among the larger groups. Leave the taxonomic messes to those who specialize 
in them, >within< the larger groups.
