Well, I guess lagosuchus (/marasuchus) is primitive enough, having all
preexisting features, to be considered grandfather of all dinosaurs. I don`t
see anything ornithischian about it either though, although things do tend
to "evolve" with time. The reduced fibula dosen`t help this scenario
however.
Maybe I`m just predjudiced in my own viewpoint that theropods are
secondarily flightless, and I can`t justify stopping that process at
"archaeopteryx and later forms" only. As a matter of fact, with it`s
pterosaur, as well as dinosaur affinities, lagosuchus seems an ideal
canditate as a secondarilly flightless descendant of my hypothetical
pterosaur-bird missing link....and probably the only thing tangeable with
wich to try and reconstruct it......along with perhaps cosesaurus as a
possible predecesssor. (In cosesaurus some see a precursor to pterosaurs,
and other`s see "avian" characteristics)......although I haven`t tried to
draw it as yet, it may prove an interesting project......(excuse my rambling
on here....8^)
