I know I'm fighting a losing battle here, but for the sake of clarity could
we please follow W.E.Swinton's (I believe) definitions for these
illustrations? A "reconstruction" being the skeletal anatomy and
"restoration" being the image of what the extinct animal is thought to have
looked like in life. A preparator expertly "constructs" a mounted skeleton,
while a paleolife artist "restores" that skeleton to flesh-and-blood life
appearance in paint, plastic, or pixels.
Perhaps Mr. Richardson could clarify his question somewhat by stating which
of these terms (or both) applies. Dan Varner.
