I am taking it on myself to forwards this to the dinosaur list as well.
There are numerous paleo artists subscribed.
I have some questions about intrepretations.
If all that is known about a fossil is honestly represented in the
reconstruction, and the unknown bits are represented as assumed, and
THESE unknown are found to be in error, does this count in your query?
This would include any early images of T rex as a 3 fingered theropod,
for example...
How would you count the earliest dipections of Iguanadon as a 4 legged
bear-lizard with a single nose-horn done as a recosntruction for the
Crystal Palace? Instead of blaming the artists and workmen in that
reconstruction, could you perhaps infer the blame of the reconstruction
on the paleontologist? How do these early inaccurate recosntructions
affect your intrepretation of 'dubious'?
