Noted Chinese Paleontologist Dies S
NANJING (Feb. 26) XINHUA -
Noted Chinese paleontologist Lu Yanhao has died of illness in Nanjing,
capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, at the age of 88.
Lu, a native of Yongding County in east China's Fujian Province, worked
as a researcher at the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology
under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He was also an academician
of the CAS.
Lu started his research career in geology and paleontology after he
graduated from Peking University's Geology Department in 1937.
After the founding of the People's Republic in 1949, he served as deputy
director of the Chinese National Commission of Stratum, director general
of the Chinese Society of Paleontology, and deputy director-general of
the Chinese Society of Geology.
