Mainly so that you don't have to use two names to distinguish atherfieldensis 
from bernissartensis. The genus is a Linnaean category that is as superfluous 
as family, order, class, and so forth. Whether the differences between the 
two species are regarded as specific or generic is entirely a matter of taste.
