Sorry, _Emausaurus_ is clearly a primitive stegosaurian and has little to do
with primitive ankylosaurians such as _Scelidosaurus_ and _Scutellosaurus_. I
published this observation in my Japanese article on ankylosaurians back in
1994 or so in _Dino-Frontline_. Holotype skull is literally a miniature of the
skull of _Huayangosaurus_ with a few minor differences (_Huayangosaurus_ is
more derived), and holotype specimen includes a nice thick anterior dorsal or
posterior cervical plate unlike any dermal feature of ankylosaurians. It is
currently the geologically oldest known stegosaurian and occupies a basal
position within Huayangosauridae, the basal family of Stegosauria. More on
this in a forthcoming peer-reviewed paper to appear in 2000 or 2001 (not self-
published, in case this means anything to anyone).
