        I'm not sure the migration of nostrils has ever been associated
with this behavior in any animal (someone correct me if I'm wrong here...).
 Dinosaurs almost certainly used smell to some extent for this purpose
(probably moreso in carnivores than herbivores), but nostril migration
usually has a respiratory purpose first and foremost.
