Re: Dinosaur TV Week

To Larry (and everyone else):

Plot Summary for "Super Mario Bros." (1993) - [from the International
Movie Database]:
Can you make a movie out of a video game? That's the question that is
answered by this film. Mario Mario and Luigi Mario, two hard working
plumbers find themselves in an alternate universe where evolved dinosaurs
live in medium hi-tech squalor. They find themselves the only hope to save
the Earth from invasion.

Cast:
Bob Hoskins .... Mario Mario (who helps his
brother help Daisy)
John Leguizamo .... Luigi Mario (who falls in love
with Daisy)
Dennis Hopper .... King Koopa (The Villain -
descended from a T. rex )
[Dennis with his hair in a style that looks like rows of
blond horns or spikes]
Samantha Mathis .... Princess Daisy (Temporarily living in
Brooklyn - kidnapped,

and returned to her underground world)
Lance Henriksen .... The King (Who has been
de-evolved into fungus)
Mojo Nixon .... Toad (Who is
de-evolved into a "Goomba" -

a 7 1/2 foot tall reptillan monster, that looks

like a Nazi stormtrooper, with a head the size of

your fist. Takes orders from villains, joined by

other "Goombas").

Correction to the plot summary above: The alternate world is below
Manhattan. The COLD-BLOODED (!!!) dinosaurs who survived the asteroid
(meteor) collision, retreated to this underground city, where, curiously,
the asteroid is located. The princess has a crystal that could allow easy
access to the surface when combined with the asteroid. She is in hiding,
since her father, the king, has been de-evolved into a massive amount of
fungus, by King Koopa. She is kidnapped from New York, and Luigi Mario, the
younger brother of Mario Mario, has fallen in love with her - and decides to
rescue her. The 2 brothers discover this sort-of low-tech, very messy
version of the city above, populated by HIGHLY DERIVED DINOSAUR DESCENDENTS
[NON-AVIAN]. During the course of their adventure, they get these boots
that enable them to jump very high (This reflects the major method of motion
in the original game!).

Very silly fluff. Interesting group of actors.
