CAUDIPTERYX PUBIS
Because I didn't read the NATURE paper carefully enough before starting
my skeletal sketch (I'm a baaaaad boy!), I reconstructed the pubis
angled as in a typical theropod even though it is described in the paper
as opisthopubic. I have since corrected this error. However, since the
distal end of the pubis is not visible/missing, I have to ask: is the
pubis likely to have a booted distal end? Skrepnick restored it as a
big-booted dromaeosaur-type pubis, but this seems wrong to me somehow
(or maybe my brain is just fried from the heat/humidity here on the East
Coast). Anyone have any thoughts/insights/information on this subject?
