Re: list participant biographies
[ I readily concede the following points which is why I've been
allowing the bio messages through instead of spiking them based on rule
#8. However, listing hair color, eye color, turn ons or whatever
seems a bit unnecessary. As Martin noted, such info is relevant if
you're looking for a date, but I don't think it has much of a place
here. I'm not likely to accept any more messages in this meta-thread,
and I apologize to those that think I shouldn't have accepted this
one. My only excuse is that mentally I'm still three time zones
away ;-) Unless you *REALLY* think your perspective should be aired
via the list, please send further opinions on this subject to me
directly (mickey@lepomis.psych.upenn.edu). I'm likely going to be
the only person to see them anyway, so you might as well remove from
me any guilt I would otherwise feel when I'd have to tell you I
wasn't going to forward your discussion to the list. Thanks -- MR
P.S. I will continue to accept bios (try to remain pertinent,
though!) until and unless I receive a couple more complaints (I've
received at least one privately). ]
2c worth. The internet is an all too anonymous place. One of the nice things
about this forum is its collegial nature. It has been most interesting to
meto find that this is a far more diverse group than I would have thought.
This has only come about through these "one time" biographical sketches.
Knowing the diversity of backgounds also indicates to me that there is a very
knowlegeable group of individuals for whom this interest in things paleo is a
passion rather than a profession.
I would hope that ther would be room on this net for a little personal
contact. It gives much more depth to the archane information we send back
and forth.
Just a thought - for what it's worth.
