Tyranno Hands - Wings and Such

Sorry I missed this discussion owing to absence on fieldwork. However, I
caught the message from Tom Holtz (May 16) that "most" theropod workers
would regard Tyrannosaur digits as numbers 1 and 2. On behalf of the "few"
who disagree and would identify them as 2 and 3, let me chuck in these
references:

Wellnhofer, P. 1985. Remarks on the digit and pubis problems of
Archaeopteryx. pp. 113-122 in M.K. Hecht et al., The Beginnings of Birds
[Eichstatt Archaeopteryx conference volume]

Thulborn, R.A. 1993. A tale of three fingers: ichnological evidence
revealing the homologies of manual digits in theropod dinosaurs. Bull.
New Mexico Mus. nat. Hist. & Sci., 3: 461-463. [Nonmarine Triassic
volume edited by Spencer Lucas and Mike Morales.]

I'm confident that this latter paper will change no opinions!
