If you read the part in the front where the author, Dougall Dixon describes
the idea behind the book, namely "what if the dinosaurs hadn't gone extinct
and had continued to evolve to adapt to modern environments", you would have
realised the book is actually speculative fiction.
He also has 2 other books on 'speculative evolution', AFTER MAN, about what
happens to modern animals if man goes extinct some time soon, and another one
I forget the title of just now. Both are nice in theory, but sometimes go
funny in execution of the illustrations.
