I am confused about this thread also. An "uncinate process" is not a
specific bone, but rather a feature of a bone. Uncinate processes are
hook-like or hooked projections on a bone...any bone.
So, which bone are we talking about?
On another subject entirely: most of the neat morphological stuff about
Deinonychus is found in the wrist. The famous "semi-lunate carpal" that
Ostrom found in Deinonychus is quite similar to that in the avian wrists.
Ostrom claims that bird wrists and Deinonychus wrists are homologous. Larry
Martin claims that the bird wrists and Deinonychus wrists are analogous.
"You say po-TAY-tow, I say po-TAH-tow...."
