The claim is that the DNA comes from red blood cells in the bone.
If the cells really are blood cells, that would be fairly conclusive.


I do not recall any thing being said about the condittion of the actual 
bones.  Was there any evidence of this specimen being eaten-or chewed on 
long after death?  Was it found with/near any other bones or fossils?  
Niether of these possibilities is mentioned either positively or negatively. 
Couldn't either event contaminate the bones so that another form of DNA 
would be present.
