re: Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia

The nearest dinosaur museums to the Smithsonian are the Philadelphia
Academy of Natural Sciences (3 hours by car) and the Carnegie Museum in
Pittsburgh (5 hours by car).

Through Jan. 2, 1995, at the Academy of Natural Sciences in
Philadelphia, is a special exhibit "Dino Dig." There's a "dig" area
to recreate field work and a Paleo-Lab to show reconstruction, etc.
Although geared more for youth, if you're in the area, please do stop
in. There's a wonderful display of photography, but offhand I don't
remember who did them (Can you help me out here, Mickey ?). They're
worth the trip ! There's also a permanent exhibit that I recommend.

Thanksgiving week-end is going to be "Dino Days", but I don't know
specifics on what's being planned. (Again, maybe Mickey can help
here.)
