I much prefer Greg Paul's theropod reconstructions, which have a concave lower belly between the ribs
and the pubic boot, rather than tissue joining the front of the chest to the pubic boot in a straight line.
These latter sort of reconstructions seem to treat the fleshy parts like canvas being stretched between
poles.

Agreed. It also seems to me that the same thing has happened to the tail.

More importantly, however, is the fact that both legs are shown in the position of maximal retraction. The femora are both as retracted as possible! This puts the feet behind the center of gravity, which must have been above the pubic boot.
