RE: Favorite Dinosaur Image or most inspirational

As we're now talking milestones and not just formative -- I'd have to agree on the Zallinger mural included in the "The World We Live In" book which also turned me on to Chesley Bonestell and astronomy. The John Gurche Heresies cover was also huge as was Greg Paul's masterpieces. Last but not least is William Stout's work in "The Dinosaurs" (1981) http://www.hour25online.com/pix/dinos01a.jpg. My dinosaur renaissance began here with Stout's slightly rococo but grungily real dinosaurs in all their pooing, knobbly, squabbling, grumpy, copulating, vulnerable and parasite-infested glory. And a full five years before "Dinosaur Heresies".

Other way around: was first The Album of Dinosaurs and The Album of Prehistoric Animals, and later combined. There were a lot of
other good "The Album of..." books: a Prehistoric Man one, but various modern animal groups, astronomy, etc.
