A small point on the T.rex scavenger debate. Many modern predators scavenge,
as do vultures, obviously. However, all these modern scavengers feed
primarily on KILLS made by other animals, (animals rarely get the chance of
dying of old age!). So, for rex to be an exclusive scavenger, something else
had to be killing the multi-ton herbivores. And there was no other predator
powerful enough to do it.
"It is set against the Horner vision: a red-faced T. rex tucking into a
triceratops that has obviously been killed by another beast." Who, exactly?
