Not necessily. Our worldview is shaped by our cultural heritage, social
institutions, and even political considerations. Memes (to use a current
term) prosper only when other factors favor their propagation. Otherwise,
we'd celebrate Empedocles (ca. 492 B.C.E-?432 B.C.E), rather than Charles
Robert Darwin (1809-1882) and Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913) for
alighting upon the concept of natural selection as one of biological
evolution's driving mechanisms.
