Re: Details on "Capitalsaurus"
Mickey_Mortimer writes:
Although the name has only been published in a faunal list as of date,
"Capitalsaurus" is indeed based on the holotype of Creosaurus potens
(Lipka, pers. comm. with Kranz 2000). Does this make "Capitalsaurus" a
valid replacement name instead of a nomen nudum, or does the synonymy have
to be published to make it valid?
I believe the "synonymy" has to be published. Someone has to publish a
description of "Capitalsaurus" with reasons (i.e. a diagnosis) on why it is
a valid and distinct genus. Otherwise it is a nomen nudum.
Mickey, great description, but why are you certain the tailbone comes from a
theropod?
