The amount of femoral action in fast running animals is considerable. It is
very much so in a galloping horse (about 60 degrees), and is still fairly
high in a bird (about 45-50 degrees, in a walking bird the femur is held
almost immobile and horizontal). There would be no point ot having a femur if
it were not used!
