Re: best professors



My votes go to two fine field geologists, both deceased:

        John A. Dorr, Jr., University of Michigan, who taught me how to 
think like a geologist, live and work in the field (and love it), 
and ponder the imponderables; he believed in me and helped me to do so as well.

        William E. Ham, University of Oklahoma, who showed me how a graduate 
seminar should be run.  He was a passionate scholar who taught by 
becoming deeply involved in the quest.  We students ran along behind to 
keep up with his measured strides.

I miss them both.
