Re: [dinosaur] Stegosaur shoulder spines

There are two possible orientations, upward and downward, for the parascapular spines ofÂGigantspinosaurus and Yingshanosaurus.ÂBoth have spines with large, flattened bases. It seems most likely that the base lay flat across the scapula, with the spine itself pointing either up or down. Tracy Ford made a diagram showing the orientations for Gigantspinosaurus (http://www.paleofile.com/Dinosaurs/Armor/Gigantospinosaurus.asp) and I made one for Yingshanosaurus (https://incertaesedisblog.wordpress.com/yingshanosaurus-parascapular-spines/).

Good day to all listmembers, I would like to ask, what is the current evidence for the presence and orientation of shoulder spines in various stegosaur taxa? Thank you in advance! Tom
