Based on the formula presented within this article. A 5000 kg T rex could make such a leap, but the consequences upon landing would overwhelm connecting tissues within its legs as to inflict serious if not life threatening results. Adult T rex would be better off just maintain a long stride (not a fast stride, but a powerful one). T rex footprint stride data would help determine what a T rex could achieve without injury to itself.

I know that if it was running (or quickly walking) its stride lenght was calculated at perhaps over 5 meters. But what if it needed to get completely over an obstacle (stream, rocks, fallen tree trunk etc.) that was too big to just step over? Would T. rex (and his legs) withstand such a pressure released on one of its legs during the impact of the foot on the firm ground? Thank you for your thoughts! Tom
