WAVP 2020 THIRD ANNOUNCEMENT

Since next year's WAVP meeting is scheduled for Mexico for the first time, it
has been decided that an additional announcement or two might be in order to
make sure everything is covered. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you have a valid
passport in order to attend the meeting.
In the last (Second) Announcement various concerns about coming to Mexico were
addressed. While some of you are no doubt familiar with visiting this country,
others may not be. So, look over the Second Announcement. If you have questions
about the information given (or lack thereof) please don't hesitate to contact
either myself (mailto:wade_miller90@hotmail.com) or Rosario Gómez of the Museo
del Desierto. (mailto:gomezrosario@hotmail.com). Rosario is fluent in English.
We have arranged an agreement with the Hotel Quinta Dorada for a rate of no
more than $75/night (single or double) for your time in Saltillo. It's possible
the rate will be even less when you arrive. This hotel is only 2 miles from the
Museo del Desierto where our meeting and poster session will be held. It is
also the location for the Greeting/Late Registration on Friday evening
(2-14-19), and after meeting Banquet on Saturday (2-15-19 ). A free shuttle
service will be arranged. If you wish to get to and from the Museum at times
other than those arranged for, local taxis have quite reasonable fares and are
safe. It's suggested that you go online to obtain information about this hotel.
Other hotels are available in the nearby region. But you are on your own for
these. We will get out a list of some of these hotels at a later time along
with restaurants and points of interest. Several eating establishments are
within walking distance of Hotel Quinta Dorada. A very good one is just next
door, Pour 'La France.
Hopefully a WEB site will be out within a month or so where you can get all the
information provided in the announcements and more. A tentative schedule of
events and registration cost will be sent out next. This schedule will include
information about Abstract submittals. Abstracts are planned to be published by
the University of California at Berkeley as has been done previously.
There is a possibility of two field trips at next February's WAVP meeting. One
will be to a Late Cretaceous dinosaur site and the other to a Pleistocene
vertebrate site. A questionnaire will be sent out at a later time to see which
one, or both, will be made available. This of course depends upon interest.
