Very true.  Interestingly, having relatively longer humeri and femora
are features consistent with aerial gliding - at least among arboreal
mammals.  For _Microraptor_, it may be more of a case of placing the
fore- and hindwings further from the torso (better for
maneuverabilty??).  Dunno.

On balance, you're probably right. Ginkgoes are perhaps a better fit.
In today's world, the dispersal agents for ginkgo seeds are arboreal
mammals (especially rodents) and birds.  The seeds smell quite foul.
Certain members of the Carnivora ingest ginkgo seeds whole, and it's
thought they are attracted to the scent of rotting carrion.
