True - but then SVP wants people to have results in April but not publish them until the meeting. No surprise the abstracts read like coffee grounds and tea leaves!
Well, the instructions for writing SVP meeting abstracts do state, in rather stark terms (as usual), that abstracts containing phrases like "significant results will be discussed" will be rejected.
Of course, many people -- myself often included -- write and submit their abstracts half a year before they can be sure that their results won't change till the meeting. That does put limits on details.
