Not all birds make good pets. Even cassowaries that are hatched in incubators
and hand-raised
have a tendancy to get kick-happy once they reach adulthood. Young cassowaries
are sometimes
kept as "pets" in Papua New Guinea, although they are always slaughtered for
their meat, feathers
and bones once they approach the age where they become unmanageable (and
potentially
dangerous).
