According to Maisch (2010): Phylogeny, systematics, and origin of the 
Ichthyosauria – the state of the art (p. 163) =

Shastasaurus alexandrae is a valid species of Shastasaurus, so I'am surprised 
that Sander et al. did not discuss this.
