Total group (or total clade), not stem group. "Prototheria" is the
name for it (or "pan-Monotremata"). The stem group would be the non-
monotreme prototheres ("stem-monotremes").
Isn't Mammalia (crown group) usually thought to have originated in the
Triassic?
