If I let one party (Wiki, although I wasn't actually asked) to borrow (or 
lightly adapt) my text, then I still don't see how that gives somebody else 
the right to take my text without asking my permission, as the copyright is 
mine and not Wiki's.

However, I suspect you're right about me still being screwed.  It's strange 
to look for a possible Christmas present and then notice that you'd written 
it or, at least, the excerpt!
