Recession, auctions, and a mammoth in your lobby

A recent news story on the Chait natural history auction reports that 
the poor showing at this weekend's auction reflects the poor economic 
times.  The  Dryosaurus skeleton was being sought be a US and an 
"international" museum but the bids fell short of the $300K minimum, 
even though the Chait was willing to waive their commission. 

However, other items did sell such as:
"A skeleton of a 7-foot-high baby woolly mammoth was also on the block 
and sold for $45,000 to a private collector who hoped to put it in the 
lobby of his Los Angeles <http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/Los+Angeles> 
office."
