nomenclature may not be your cup of tea, anyway.
Here, however, it's worth pointing out that rank-based nomenclature is more,
not less, unstable than phylogenetic nomenclature in this respect. PN has
one source of instability: the tentative nature of scientific knowledge. RN
has two sources of instability: the tentative nature of scientific
knowledge, and _taxonomists' mood swings_.
