2000, after a once-in-a-lifetime find, the Museum of Northern Arizona
brought the most complete therizinosaur skeleton ever found to Flagstaff.

Though this specimen was found near Big Water, Utah, the 13-foot, one-ton,
93-million-year-old feathered therizinosaur   ...

To describe the curved, sickle-shape of its giant claws, the find was named
"Therizinosaurus cheloniformis," which is Greek for "scythe- or
sickle-reptile form."

David Gillette, a Museum of Northern Arizona paleontologist, and his crew of
researchers found a toe bone in layers of mud above the tropic shale.
