New Spanish PhD on dinosaurs: Galvesaurus herreroi
The past week (February, 27) José Luis BARCO successfully defended, in
the Faculty of Geology of the Zaragoza University, their PhD thesis
entitled:
?Sistemática e implicaciones filogenéticas y paleobiogeográficas del
saurópodo Galvesaurus herreroi (Formación Villar del Arzobispo, Galve,

Congratulations to the new (and big, 201 cm in height) Doctor!!!
According to Dr. Barco, Galvesaurus is not a cetiosaurid nor a
turiasaur, but a basal macronarian related with Phuwiangosaurus,
Aragosaurus, Tastavinsaurus, Cedarosauus and Venenosaurus. This 6
genera form a monophyletic group (unnamed) which is the sister group
to Titanosauriformes.

The PhD thesis of Dr. Barco is the eighth in Spain, after those of
MORATALLA (1993), SANTOS (2003), PEREZ-MORENO (2004), COMPANY (2005),
ROYO-TORRES (2006), RUIZ-OMEÑACA (2006) and TORICES (2007). The titles
