My bad. Just because not only does the word contain the word "genetics",
but all phylogenetic studies of both birds and humans are actual studies of
genetic relationships, I should think that phylogenetic studies of dinosaurs
would be studies of dinosaur genetics.
But maybe I'm the only one of the three of us who could have read
phylogenetic studies of birds and humans.

Yes, "-genetic" just means that some sort of "genesis" (origin) is
involved; that's the common origin of all those words.
Phylogenetics can be done with DNA or protein sequences as well as with
morphological data (the shape of living beings). Here's a short
