Speaking of monotremes - there's an interesting article currently on the New

eals-bizarre-penis.html
Between four-headed reptile-like echidna penises, and the no less than ten
sex-determining chromosomes of the platypus, it seems that monotreme
evolution went out of its way to achieve maximum reprodctive weirdness.
